Eden's Blossoming Sin: Page 2, Beneath the Manhole
Second page of the serialized comic Eden's Blossoming Sin, in four stacked panels: pedestrians walk along the pavement as the little girl with the plush rabbit follows the crowd; the next two panels close in on the gap of a cast-iron manhole cover, where black orbs and tiny black cubes seep out; in the last panel the cover is pushed up and wet black matter spills onto the road. The narration reads that even the most perfect pruning still lets a weed called sin grow deep in the soil. No model-personification character appears yet.

The street on the previous page looked so neatly kept, and this is what was underneath it. The narration says even the most perfect pruning still grows a weed called sin down in the soil, and then the manhole cover actually bulges. The moment those little black cubes start welling up I cannot look away. Prying a thin seam open in a beautiful street is a mean trick, and it makes a very good prologue.
