FISH NOTES

This is exactly the kind of room I picture Claude Chan settling into — old books, candlelight and the smell of paper everywhere. She has spread her long hair across half the floor, and that book has been held up for ages without a single page turning; her eyes wandered off long ago. Judging by that face, she is thinking about something with nothing to do with reading. I like how unhurried she looks — though I do wonder who is going to tidy up all those crumpled letters.
